About Mike

I have been a freelance writer for a few years now.  Somehow in the hustle of trying to make rent each month, it never occurred to me that I should write about my favorite thing in the world, baseball.  And specifically, my beloved Philadelphia Phillies.  This blog will be largely Phillies-centric, though I may occasionally have a few things to say about baseball at large or the other sports teams I follow closely (mostly the Sixers and Temple football and basketball).  I write from the perspective of a fan and don’t even remotely consider myself a journalist.  I love statistical analysis and I have started to get into some of the new-school stats more and more, but my favorite thing about baseball is the intangible.  The way you know a player is good because you watch him everyday, even though there is no quantifiable way to explain it.  I think of baseball as part of a larger meta narrative and I write about the Phillies because, in a way, they are the story of my life.

I was born and raised in Pennsylvania and I now live in Manhattan.  When I am not writing or watching the Phillies, I coach junior high basketball and varsity baseball at a school in the city.  If you’d like to read some of my other work, you can do so here.

  1. I love your site. Keep it up !
